"Magic Space" playroom dedicated inside Children's Mercy

Magic Space

On January 19, representatives from Merlin Entertainments presented the key to a new and magical play area to Children’s Mercy Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Dr. Karen Cox.

Merlin’s Magic Wand is a unique charitable organization that delivers magical experiences to children with a serious illness or disability around the world. SEA LIFE and LEGOLAND Discovery Center in Kansas City are part of the Merlin Entertainments Corporation.

Tracie Hogencamp from Merlin’s Magic Wand said: “We are delighted to dedicate this unique space for the patients undergoing treatments at Children’s Mercy Kansas City. Together with the team at LEGOLAND Discovery Center and SEA LIFE Kansas City Aquarium we are committed to bring a few smiles even beyond their treatment.”

Located inside the Kreamer Resource Center for Families, the Children’s Mercy “Magic Space” features an underwater theme with a LEGO vibe. Patient families will be able to draw their own sea creatures and have them swim onto the big screen at the doodle reef station. The space also includes a magnet puzzle board, bubble tube and more than one dozen LEGO models.

“This has been in the works for more than a year, but it has been well worth the wait,” said Linda Taloney, Kreamer Resource Center Manager. “The space has the SEA LIFE and LEGOLAND theme complete with colorful walls, but is still mindful of the relaxing environment of the Kreamer Resource Center for our famlies.”
