Visitor restrictions for inpatient units to begin January 18

Effective Wednesday, January 18, visitor restrictions for children 12-years-old and younger will go into effect for inpatient units at Children's Mercy and Children's Mercy Hospital Kansas due to a continued increase in respiratory viruses.

That means visitors, including siblings, 12-years-old and younger will not be permitted to visit inpatient units.

The number of flu cases diagnosed at Children's Mercy continues to rise this week compared to last week, and we continue to see RSV (respiratory syncytial virus) and rhinoviruses/enteroviruses, too.

Respiratory viruses are easily spread, so the hospital is taking preventive measures to provide a safe environment for patients, visitors and staff members. Signs will be posted

Thank you for helping keep patients, families and staff members safe.
