Children's Mercy Hospital Recognized as One of the Best by U.S. News and World Report for Seventh Year in a item

Children's Mercy ranks among the nation's top pediatric hospitals, according to U.S. News and World Report's 2014-15 "Best Children's Hospitals" rankings, in nine of the 10 specialties.

Those pediatric specialties include: nephrology, cancer, diabetes and endocrinology, gastroenterology, neonatology, neurology and neurosurgery, orthopedics, pulmonology and urology. "I am proud of this remarkable achievement," says Children's Mercy President and CEO Dr. Randall O'Donnell. "Being recognized among the nation's best is a testament to the incredible dedication and talent of our staff. But, we're always looking to the future. Much more can and will be done as we continue to practice, teach and research the best ways to deliver quality pediatric care and provide the best outcomes possible for our patients and families."

This year, U.S. News surveyed 183 pediatric centers. The current rankings are based on an extensive analysis of clinical and operational data collected directly from a survey of children's hospitals. That data is combined with the results from a reputational survey of board-certified pediatric specialists who answered where they would send their sickest patients, as well as supplemental information from resources such as the National Cancer Institute.

The full rankings and methodology are available at www.usnews.com/childrenshospitals. The rankings will also be published in the U.S. News Best Hospitals 2015 guidebook, which will be available in August.
