Children's Mercy ranks among top pediatric hospitals nationwide

U.S. News and World once again recognized Children's Mercy as one of the top pediatric hospitals in the country, ranking in all 10 of the 10 specialties.

The highest ranking came in the nephrology department, which ranked top five in the nation, something with which Marvin Wiedeman isn't shocked.

"Dr. Chadha himself, just an amazing guy. He's a lifesaver," said Wiedeman. His 10-year-old step-son, Dominic, has been a patient under Chadha for years and just received a kidney transplant last summer.

"I think that's the greatest satisfaction we have, when we see them so sick and after transplant they become so better," said Chadha, a nephrologist at Children's Mercy.

Chadha and Dominic's relationship is just one reason Children's Mercy has been ranked so highly within the national rankings. Other reasons have been the crystal clear results.

Children's Mercy boasts a 100 percent success rate for first-year kidney transplants, which is well above the national average.
