Fox 4: Why will the Kansas City skyline be blue tonight?

For the last several months, and throughout the majority of the NFL season, the Kansas City skyline has been illuminated in a deep cardinal red and golden hue in honor of the Chiefs. However, things will look a bit different tonight.
Although many people may plan to stay inside and avoid the bitter cold tonight, others might find themselves on the road and asking themselves, ‘Why is the skyline blue? Is it baseball season already?’
The answer is no…
Earlier this week, Mayor Quinton Lucas released a proclamation on behalf of the City of Kansas City, dedicating Feb. 15 as a day to recognize those with Angelman Syndrome (AS) in the Kansas City metro and around the world.
According to the proclamation, “Those living with Angelman Syndrome and their families are valuable members of the Kansas City community who face a number of daily challenges, including significant and developmental delay, mobility impairment, seizure disorder, speech and communication disorders, and anxiety and behavior issues.”
The proclamation continued, “We celebrate the success of the Angelman Syndrome Clinic at Children’s Mercy Hospital and encourage the continued development of community resources for individuals with Angelman Syndrome and their families.”
