Helpful tips on how to best prevent Enterovirus D68

Please help us share these tips on how to best prevent Enterovirus D68, the respiratory virus making headlines throughout the Midwest.

As always, be diligent about hand washing and proper cough etiquette. Cleaning frequently touched surfaces and toys if someone is sick. Don't share cups or eating utensils with people who are sick. Exclusion from school or child care is not needed if your child has common cold symptoms (cough, congestion, runny nose without high fever). If your child has fever not controlled by acetaminophen or ibuprofen or is not drinking, call your healthcare provider for advice. Seek care promptly if your child develops difficulty or labored breathing. If your child has a history of asthma, follow your Asthma Action Plan. And if symptoms persist, don't hesitate to contact your healthcare provider.
