Hunter the dog lends comfort to patients at Children's Mercy

Hunter visits patient

A child's illness is tough on them and their loved ones. However, at Children's Mercy Hospital, they have a four-legged friend helping ease their pain.

His name is Hunter. He's a Golden Retriever and loves to play like any other dog. But, when Hunter puts on his vest and goes to the hospital, he's all about his task at hand, providing relief for patients.

"Lots of smiles. A lot of times parents will get tearful. They sometimes say it's the first time they've seen their kids smile in weeks," patient activity coordinator Aimee Hoflander said.

Generous donors made it possible for Hunter to come to Children's Mercy and for Hope the dog to be at Children's Mercy Hospital Kansas.
