It's a boy! First KC baby of 2016 born in Children’s Mercy’s Fetal Health Center
It’s a boy! Brecken Bubeck was born at 12:22 a.m. in the Elizabeth J. Ferrell Fetal Health Center at Children’s Mercy Hospital. He weighed 5.12 lbs. Brecken has gastroschisis, which means his intestines formed outside of his body. He was taken into surgery not long after he was born. He is currently getting the expert care he needs in Children’s Mercy’s Neonatal Intensitve Care Unit. His prognosis is good. Babies are not usually born at children’s hospitals. But Children’s Mercy’s Fetal Health Center allows families to deliver at the same hospital where their babies will get the care they need immediately, while keeping the family at the same hospital. The Elizabeth J. Ferrell Fetal Health Center delivered its 500th baby this summer.
Happy Birthday, Brecken, and congratulations to his parents, Anna & Josh!
