KC Business Journal: Get to know the next leader of Children's Mercy

After more than 25 years under CEO Randall O’Donnell’s leadership, Children’s Mercy will gain a new leader whose civic connection, devotion to patients and deftness with big projects will mirror his predecessor's.

Paul Kempinski, enterprise vice president for Nemours Children’s Health System and president of the Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Delaware, will join Children’s Mercy in November.

Two of Kempinski’s colleagues described him as a capable, involved leader with a knack for getting to know people. Kempinski has 15 years of experience in adult and pediatric health care, and has worked for Nemours since 2003. He has been president of Alfred I. duPont Hospital for the past three years.

Kempinski will move to the metro with his wife, Maureen, and three kids: Kristen, Brian and Jenny.
