KCTV 5: Children's Mercy opens express care, orthopedic clinic in Shawnee
By Miya Ingle
Children’s Mercy is opening a new Express Care and Orthopedic Injury Clinic near K-7 and Johnson Drive in Shawnee.
Doors open Monday, Oct. 12, for patients on both the Express Care and orthopedic sides. Both walk-in and online scheduling are available, with evening and weekend hours.
The building is designed to provide two types of care at once. One side houses Express Care, which offers walk-in and scheduled visits for minor illnesses and injuries, including cold and flu symptoms, ear infections, sore throats, minor cuts and burns, and stomach illness and other non-emergency concerns.
The other side is an orthopedic injury and sports medicine clinic. The Orthopedic Injury Clinic treats children ages 1 and up and teens for broken bones, sprains, strains and other acute orthopedic injuries. Care is provided by pediatric-trained orthopedic specialists, with access to imaging and follow-up as needed.
