KMBC 9: KC school district partners with Children's Mercy on COVID-19 testing

By Bianca Beltrán

Kansas City Public Schools has partnered with Children's Mercy to keep students and staff safe from COVID-19.

Health experts said testing is an important part of keeping schools open during the pandemic.

James Elementary is one of eight schools that are part of a partnership with Children's Mercy, studying testing preferences and figuring out what works best for schools.

"Testing alone won't keep anyone safe, but it's really this model where we're doing all these mitigation strategies together. That is the best approach to keep all of our kids and staff safe," said Dr. Jennifer Goldman, of Children's Mercy Hospital.
