KMBC 9: When can you send your kids back to school after a flu diagnosis?

Dr. Mary Anne Jackson
By Matt Flener

School administrators are urging parents to keep their sick kids at home during this flu season, at least 24 hours after they are fever-free, in an attempt to slow the spread of this year's flu.

Dr. Mary Anne Jackson provided expert commentary, including advice for parents on when it’s safe to send kids back to daycare and school. She also commented that we may be past the worst of the season. "It's not over, but I think we have peaked, so that's a good sign." she said.

This year's Influenza B appears to be particluarly dangerous for children, and doctors are reminding parents that it is not too late to get the flu vaccine.
