KMBC 9: Young Argentina fan rehabbing in Kansas City eager for World Cup team's arrival
By Alan Shope
As the defending world champions prepare to make its home in Kansas City for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, one local teenager has an extra reason to be excited.
Seventeen-year-old Jeremias Caromona has been rehabbing a back injury at the Children’s Mercy Sports Medicine Center in Village West after getting hurt while playing soccer.
In less than a week, the facility will officially become the training base camp for Argentina, the reigning World Cup champion and Caromona’s favorite team.
“Honestly, I'd be happy to see any player,” Caromona said.
For him, the timing could not be better.
“Knowing that I'm going to be here for physical therapy, I'm like, ‘Oh my, this is awesome to hear, even better,’” he said.
Caromona’s family is from Argentina, making the opportunity even more meaningful.
