Kohl's Department Stores grants more than $256,000 to Children's Mercy

Kohl's Department Store, through the Kohl's Cares®, donates $256,895 to the Children's Mercy Strong, Talented, And Resilient Kids Power Program.

To celebrate the kick-off of another fantastic program year, families can visit the Kohl's and Children's Mercy S.T.A.R. power tent at Sprint Family Fun Days Fall Festival on Saturday, October 11, from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m., at the Kansas City Power and Light District. Kids can design their own sleep mask and pillow case, participate in a "Slipper Match" game and receive giveaways that will help keep track of their sleep habits at home. Sleep experts from Children's Mercy will also be on hand to offer advice on children's sleeping habits.

The Kohl's and Children's Mercy S.T.A.R. power program provides health and wellness education to elementary school students, as well as a public service announcement campaign promoting healthy sleep habits. Since 2010, the Kohl's and Children's Mercy S.T.A.R. power program has visited more than 80 schools across Kansas City. Due to Kohl's Cares® generous support, there is no charge to schools for this program. For more information or to request a school visit, go to childrensmercy.org/starpower.

Kohl's Department Store, through the Kohl's Cares® cause merchandise program, made the donation possible. The donations were collected from Kohl's stores located in the Kansas City area. Kohl's has gifted more than $3.1 million to Children's Mercy since 2000.

Kohl's commitment to Children's Mercy is made possible through the Kohl's Cares® cause merchandise program. Through this initiative, Kohl's sells $5 books and plush toys, where 100 percent of net profit benefits children's health and education programs nationwide, including hospital partnerships like this one. Kohl's has raised more than $257 million through this merchandise program. In addition to the merchandise program, Kohl's Cares® features the Kohl's Cares® Scholarship Program, which last year recognized more than 2,300 young volunteers with more than $400,000 in scholarships and prizes. Through the Kohl's Associates in Action volunteer program, more than 834,000 associates have donated more than 2.7 million hours of their time since 2001, and Kohl's has donated more than $79 million to youth-focused nonprofit organizations. Kohl's also offers fundraising gift cards for schools and youth-serving organizations. For more information, visit www.Kohls.com/Cares.
