Superheroes come to Children’s Mercy for employee blood drive

Superhero+visit

Planet Comicon takes place this weekend at Bartle Hall, but a few characters got into costume early. Supergirl, Wolverine, Green Arrow, Elsa and characters from Star Wars came to Children's Mercy for the employee blood drive.

The superheroes hung out with patients before the event, and then got a chance to meet with the staff.

"A lot of times our staff don't get to interact with superheroes when they come, and that's why this event is so special, because they're here just for the staff to be able to engage with and make them feel special, too," said Child Life Program Coordinator Trista Williams.

Some of the characters even took time to donate blood. So unlike their silverscreen counterparts who only save lives in the movies, these superheroes were saving the lives of real people.
